Bullants fall short of 4 points in last quarter comeback

Round-1-Results-vs-OLDMEN-newsThe Bulleen Templestowe senior side fell agonisingly short on Saturday afternoon as they fell to the hand of the Old Mentonian Panther’s by 9 points at Keysborough Playing Fields. After for trailing by 4 goals for most of the day, the Bullants headed into the final term 23 points down and having lost to injury three critical players to their side.

Edsall was taken to Hospital after being KO’d, recently return Oliver Schmidt popped his shoulder out and was gone for the day and then lost key ruck/forward men Nick Palumbo to what looks like a quad injury. Starting the final term the boys kicked the opening 6 goals in 20 minutes to hit the front by 5 points deep into the last term. Unfortunately the boys didn’t have the legs to hold on allowing the Panthers to kick the last two goals of the game deep into the quarter and run out 9 point winners.

Although the four points were not secured. A lot of positives will be taken out of the loss and brought into next weeks game against Whitefriars back at Ted Ajani Reserve.

The afternoon started off as a positive as the reserve squad claimed the four points in a tight struggle against the Panthers. The boys had a massive incentive to win as long time servant David Florance was playing his 250th club game in the Blue and Gold. This was a great start to the year for newly appointed coach Andrew Verga and new captain Kristian Mattiuzzo as the boys will look to make it two on the trot as they head back home next weekend.
