Season 2015 is officially over for the Bulleen Templestowe Amateur Football Club and it is one they would like to know put behind them, freshen up and build on a strong 2016 campaign.
The Bullants having 6 senior players out fielded a very youthful side today against Yarra Valley who will be joining the Bullants in Division 2 next year.
Yarra Valley came out the stronger of the two at the bounce of the ball controlling the play after some inexperienced turnovers by the Bullants youth. The Blue & Gold however managed to get the first goal of the game but from that moment on struggled to take hold of the game as the more experienced Bushranger outfit started to take control. Yarra Valley managed to pile on the next five goals of the game to take a handy 24 point lead at quarter time.
Although the Bullants were kicking with the wind in the second term, they only managed to scrape back the deficit by 4 points at the main break in a stalemate of a quarter.
Unfortunately after half time the youthful Bullants side couldn’t keep up with the pace of Yarra Valley after the Bushrangers kicked 6 goals to two in the third term. The 50 point three-quarter time deficit was something the Bullants knew that would not be able to chase down but were hoping to put together a final effort in the last quarter of the year.
The Bullants won the final term as they were hoping on doing. Kicking three goals to one brought the final defeat margin to 36 points in the end. Jack Cowell, Nick Palumno and Leith Wallis were outstanding and best on ground for the Bullants whilst Michael Considine and Rob Edsall ending up finishing with two a piece.
The Bullants know hope to have some deep soul searching over the summer break and hit pre-season with full of steam and with one focus in mind.
2016 is redemption.
