It’s the one game of the year that everyone really wants to get up for and claim the four points at the end of the day. For the first half of the game we what was looking to be yet another classic chapter in the Bulleen Templestowe/Prahran Assumption story.

The first quarter of the game was what everyone expected it to be. Both teams were physical at the ball and providing run and spread going through the middle of the ground. For most of the quarter it was a goal fest. Prahran were the ones to break the goal for goal bout to lead by 12 points at the first change. However Cherbakof with 3 opening quarter goals was causing havoc for the Prahran down back.

A fiery quarter time address got the boys in the Blue & Gold up and about at the start of the second. Aggressive on the ball, the Bullants eventually got even with the Two Blues half way through the quarter and were looking to overrun Prahran and take a half time lead. A late goal from the Two Blues got them the lead back as a wayward kick by Cherbakof on the half time siren got the game within under a goal at the half time break.

The second half started as the first and it looked like the Bullants were sticking around for the fight. Unfortunately what seems to be the tale of the Bullants season looked to be unfolding again on Ted Ajani Reserve. Halfway through the 3rd term Prahran started to gain momentum and string together 5 successive goals in 10 minutes to really break the game open and really set a big task for the Bullants at three quarter time.

Matt Shaw put through the all-important first goal of the last quarter for Prahran and the match was now beyond the Bullants reach. Although the Bullants kicked two goals in the term, the Two Blues kicked a further two and eventually running out winners by 45 points.

The Bullants now face top of the table leader Ormond AFC next week away from home which is looming as a daunting task to take the four points.
