The VAFA investigation panel found Bulleen Templestowe Amateur Football Club and the Kew Football Club guilty of conduct unbecoming of a member of the Association and conduct prejudicial to the interests of the Association following the incident that resulted in last Saturday’s game being abandoned. The violations involved ugly verbal abuse, pushing, shoving and grappling by supporters and a player melee on the ground.
Our club deeply regrets its part in the events that unfolded on 15 August 2015 and has accepted its portion of responsibility and will work tirelessly in repairing the damage caused to the competition and to its reputation as a community club.
We wish to reiterate and make it absolutely clear that our club and those connected with it (including our administration, coaching and support staff) do not condone violent behaviour, either on or off the football field.
We have acknowledged the need to play our role in not only taking immediate actions as required but to work with the VAFA and other member clubs to uphold the core values of the competition. We will certainly consider any reasonable suggestions as to how we and other clubs can prevent this type of incident occurring again in future. Please do not hesitate in contacting me directly.
