Today’s loss to North Old Boys/St Pat’s may have spelled doom for the Bullants season and potentially surviving in division one for 2015. With 5 games remaining in the 2015 season the Bullants play three of the top four sides and are a game and percentage behind Old Mentonians to lift themselves out of the relegation red zone.
The Bullants knew their season was on the line today, and with eight of their starting 22 out of the side they always knew it was just going to be that extra bit harder to secure the four points at Ted Ajani. The opening quarter was a tight affair with both sides kicking goals after each other and NOB’s taking a narrow five point lead into the first break.
The second quarter was a little more open for both sides with some more free flowing footy displayed in the quarter. Although both sides both kicked four goals for the term, the Bullants managed to narrow the lead by a point going into half time.
Unfortunately a Bullants side that wasn’t switched on at the start of the third paid the price with NOB’s kicking the opening four goals of the quarter and opening up a handy lead in cool conditions at the Taj. The Bullants managed to kick three goals of their own in the quarter but with NOB’s kicking a further two goals it really gave them a match winning lead going into the last quarter.
NOB’s really just needed to steam the pressure the Bullants would apply at the start of the last quarter and they would walk away with the four points and that is what they did. A bit of the stalemate last quarter eventuated in NOB’s running out 24 point winners and really bringing the Bullants season to a halt.
Cowell and Moio were great as they have been for the entire year with P.Voglis kicking five goals in his return game.
