Every team has them, and today it was the Bullants that need to put this one in the back of their minds and move on straight away with next week’s game.
With Old Geelong blasting out of the blocks and piling on the goals in the first quarter, unfortunately it had the makings of what would be a dark afternoon for the Bullant senior side. The Oggers piled on seven goals to one in the first term with the Bullants really struggling to get any fluency in their game in what was a must win game for the club.
The second term started off better for the Bullants creating some pressure around the stoppages but efforts went unrewarded with the Bullants only managing to register three points for the term and Old Geelong piling on eight goals to all but seal the four points for the afternoon.
Hoping to fight on coming out after the main break, the Bullants just like the first half really struggled to get any of their game going. Old Geelong were dominating in every facet of the game and blew the margin out to just over one hundred points going to the last quarter of the game.
If the game wasnt already bad for the Bullants, it got a whole lot worse in the final term. Old Geelong yet again kept the Bullants goalless in the term for the second time of the day and had a massive ten goal last quarter blowing the final margin out to a hard to swallow 172 point loss.
Captain Paul Florance was one of the highlights of the day for the Bullants and he will now need to lead the charge and redeem the Blue & Gold next week in a do or die game against NOB’s/St Pat’s in a first ever clash in Ballarat.
Old Geelong 30.16-196
