After last week’s win, the message today was that it would account for nothing if they couldn’t back up the effort and get another four points in a crucial game against Old Mentone.

The boys in the Blue & Gold didn’t let anyone down.

For the second week running, the Bullants came out of the block all guns blazing and took control of a young Old Mentone side early in the game. The Bullants dominated most of the play for the entire quarter and did all of the attacking. Matz and Cherbakof were prolific early and kept the Panthers scoreless for the quarter and allowing the Bullants to have a handy 28 point lead at the first change.

They were told at the quarter time break not to give up and make sure that this game was out of reach at half time. Terrific pressure and run and carry allowed the Bullants to yet again have another four goal quarter and extend the lead at half time by just shy of 50 points and what would eventually be a match winning lead.

Having spent majority of their efforts in the first half to have a surmountable lead, the second half of the game became a scrappy and uneventful struggle. Much of it being a stalemate, Old Mentone actually won the half kicking three goals to two.

The Bullants now have the chance to make it three wins in a row and climb out of relegation when they take on a struggling Whitefriars outfit next week at Whitefriars College. Another massive game for the Bullants coming up with the loser of next week’s game to be one game clear in the relegation zone.
